Beaujolais Nouveau tasting.
Over 50 years ago French wine makers discovered that young, Gamay Beaujolais vines could produce fruity, floral, intense wines that had instantaneous pizzazz. Thus began a tradition for Beaujolais winemakers who christened these wines with the moniker "Beaujolais Nouveau".
Today, every third Thursday in November, worldwide, Beaujolais Nouveau is released to the wine consuming public. These wines, made exclusively from hand picked grapes, are perfect for celebrating the harvest season with their "drink now" design. Join us on Thursday, November 15th from 4-7pm as we celebrate a world wide event. Appetizers from Figmint Restaurant will also be served.
To celebrate this special event, Figmint Restaurant will be offering a 3 course dinner with Beaujolais
Nouveau degustation for only $40 per person.
Call 604-875-3312 for details and reservation. www.figmintrestaurant.com

Chateau des Aveylams Costières de Nîmes AOC Red 2006Rhone Valley, France 50% Grenache 50% Syrah.
Up until the 12th century, the estate was formerly owned by the Knights of the Round Table. The Templers Cross, which represents today's Château des Aveylans, bears witness to this rich heritage. Earthy aromas of stewed plums, dried fruit, mineral and coffee. A smooth mouth-feel with cherry, smoked meat and mocha followed by a long finish of fine grained, dusty tannins laced with spice and anise.
GABARDA UNO 2006 - Cariñena, Spain
80% Grenache 20% Syrah
Located in the second oldest D.O., this new winery is equipped with the latest modern technology and aided by the vast knowledge and experience of its founder members and is proud to contribute to the new generation of Spanish fine quality wines.
"Gabarda" is in reference to the wild roses that are native to the area. Medium to full bodied with bright red berries dominating the nose with soft floral elements. Well structured with rich, intense fruit, with silky spiciness that lingers on the finish.
